Position:                  Planner/Production Coordinator

Reports to:              Planning Manager

FLSA Status:           Exempt

Department:            Planning

Location/Shift:        Burlingame, CA / Day Shift

Essential Function:

The Planner/Production Coordinator facilitates the day-to-day needs and requirements of the Planning Department by planning jobs for the most efficient manufacturing path.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Planner Job Engineer in a Print, Packaging and Fulfillment environment
  • Working knowledge of PC platform, including Excel, Word, Adobe, FileMaker Pro. (Kodak Prinergy, Preps, Prestige and PSI is a plus)

  • Communicate effectively with sales, customer service, estimating, scheduling, outside vendors and manufacturing personnel
  • Meet company and departmental standards, including: Customer Requirements, Compliance, Safety, Quality, etc.
  • Follow Lahlouh ISO Quality Procedures and Work Instructions, and complete forms and checklists as necessary
  • Follow Lahlouh policies outlined in the company handbook
  • Work extended hours, as business needs dictate
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Attend department and company meetings
  • Assist in training new and temporary employees

Position Specific Skills and Competencies:

  • Follow team leader instructions for Planning processes
  • Confirm and complete all job specifications
  • Verify estimate specifications and art specifications match
  • Prepare job plans, impositions and layouts for press and bindery
  • Work closely with paper purchasing and buyout vendors to coordinate purchase order details and maintain schedules
  • Enter jobs into production and manage jobs through to completion in the most efficient manner
  • Ability to monitor and maintain the quality of a job and document ongoing changes to jobs in production (i.e. change orders)
  • Review, follow, and question information provided – require clarity and consistency and alert Management with suggestions, questions and/or issues when appropriate
  • Improve processes and cost-efficiency, recommend changes and improvements to overall project creation
  • Have pre-production samples made when necessary
  • Estimate job costs for jobs that come in without quotes
  • Price change orders when required
  • Hands on experience with all aspects of Prepress, digital and offset printing and post-production workflows
  • Knowledge of job estimating and layouts, purchasing material and buyouts

Education

  • High school graduate/GED
